Mellen family papers, 1752-1837.

Bulk of the collection (33 documents) consist of deeds concerning Daniel Mellen of Holliston, MA; Robert Mellen (Daniel's son) of Holliston, MA; and/or John Mellen (Robert's son), an early settler of Monadnock No. 4 (now Fitzwilliam, NH). Documents of particular interest include "Monadnock No. 4 grant" written 15 January 1752 by Joseph Blanchard; a list of the owners of lots in Monadnock No. 4; and a copy (attested by George Jaffrey 7 April 1769) of the terms and limitations of the Monadnock grant.
